January 9, 2010
A great winter turnout of sixteen pistol shooters met January 9 for a 600 Modified NRA Match. All we needed was a window of weather opportunity for a big turnout, which was graced by the company of our Grand-daughter, Lainie. She had fun being with the Club, meeting everybody, and watching the shooting from the closed car. Thanks for making her so welcome.
The amazing aim of Roger Zeigler took High Scratch honors, shooting an impressive 587/18X. Roger shot a perfect slow fire stage, and no stage was less than 96 out of 100. Sharp! Roger returned his $25 winnings to the Pistol Club Fund.
Bernie Sakowicz took First Place and $25, (scratch 581/18X), handicap score of 295.241. Bernie shot a perfect slow-fire stage, and most of his stages were 96 and above. Very impressive. Bernie added his winnings to the Pistol Club fund.
Bruce Hunt had a great day, came in Second Place, shooting a scratch 565/12X (16 over his average) for a 293.071 handicap score. Bruce elected to return his $23 to our fund.
Terry Liffick shot a 550/11X to take 3rd Place shooting 8 points over his average (289.810 handicap score). Terry chose to add his $19 winnings to the Club Fund.
Dorothy Maddock scored 4th place with a scratch 523/8X (handicap score 287.057). Dorothy graciously returned her $15 winnings to the Pistol Club fund.
R.C. Baker took 5th place shooting a scratch 569/20X (handicap score 286.887) R.C. shot one perfect slow-fire stage. R. C. elected to turn his $8 winnings back to the Pistol Club Fund.
We welcome new shooter Don Paul - - new to the Pistol Club that is. Paul has long been a member of the Club, and decided to join the Pistol Shooters this month. We encourage all of you to join in with this fun monthly event, every 2nd Saturday.
Next month: We will shoot our match on lucky Sat. February 13, 2010. We will shoot a 600 Modified Camp Perry Match. You may use TWO pistols if you chose, one for each relay. We will have a Valentine’s Day target, with winner taking all of the “pot”. Hours for February 13: Sign up 9:30, shoot at 10:00 am.
The $8 match fees (and $2 entry for the special target) will get you steaming hot coffee and donuts!! You can’t resist! Consider inviting a friend to shoot the match with this great group.

BLACK POWDER MATCH JANUARY 10, 2010
The January 10th Black Powder Match was shot on the pistol range. Ten shooters participated. Everyone shot really well. We’re thinking of having it on the pistol side again.
Taking top honors was Gary (Red Hawk) Sampson with a score of 186. Placing second was Steve Emge with a 176x and Pete Repp took third shooting a 162.
The Western National Muzzle Loading Shoot will be in Phoenix at the Ben Avery Range on February 10th thru the 15th, which takes place the 2nd Sunday of the month. Most of our people will be there. Because of this, the February match will be on the THIRD Sunday. This was discussed among the shooters and all agreed to it.
SO REMEMBER !! - - FEBRUARY’S BLACK POWDER MATCH - - 3RD SUNDAY - - FEBRUARY 21ST AT 10 AM. See you all then.
Think safety FIRST
